A Low-Calorie, High-Fibre Powder
Polydextrose powder is a soluble, prebiotic, high-fibre ingredient used as a low-calorie food bulking agent and thickener. It serves as an excellent flour and starch substitute in recipes, helping to reduce sugar or fat content in bakes and desserts, and even as a mild sweetener in drinks. Also known as poly-d-glucose, is a non-digestible carbohydrate made through the condensation polymerisation of dextrose (glucose).
Multipurpose and Highly Functional
With the texture of sugar it is used to add a significant boost in fibre and bulk to food products, improving texture and mouthfeel without a chalky or grainy feel. Thanks to its high stability, low viscosity and neutral taste, polydextrose can be incorporated into a wide variety of applications. It is a source of dietary fibre that can be added to sugar-free, no-added sugar, or sugar-reduced dishes and products, like: cereals, snacks, desserts, chocolate bars, baked goods, dips, dressings and sauces, dairy products, beverages, pharmaceutical applications, and nutrition supplements.
While it is sometimes found in low-calorie sweets and desserts, it does not contribute much sweetness when added, therefore it should not be considered as a type of sweetener. It adds little to no colour or off flavour, and remains stable in acidic and neutral environments.
Polydextrose powder is available in convenient 300kg or 1kg resealable tubs, and in 5kg bulk containers, for both home and commercial applications.
